Child Care Subsidy in Alberta

At Lunar Academy, we understand the importance of affordable child care. The Alberta government offers various subsidies to help families manage costs based on the child’s age, family income, child care program, and attendance.

Child Care Subsidy in Alberta

0 to Kindergarten-Age: For children who are not yet in school or are in kindergarten but also attend child care during regular school hours.
Kindergarten to Grade 6: For children enrolled in a licensed program outside of regular school hours.

Alberta Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement

Families earning less than $180,000 annually may qualify for an additional subsidy to further reduce child care costs. This subsidy is part of the Alberta Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement, which aims to make child care more affordable.

Expected Costs:

$10 per day: Families earning up to $119,999.
$11 to $17 per day: Families earning between $120,000 and $179,999.
$22.19 per day: Families earning $180,000 and above.

These rates depend on your child care provider’s fees. Providers receiving grants are committed to ensuring that families pay an average of $10 per day by the end of 5 years.

Eligibility for Subsidy:

Full Subsidy: For families with a gross household income up to $119,999.
Partial Subsidy: For families with a gross household income between $120,000 and $179,999.
Preschool (Part-Time): Flat rate of $125 per month for families earning up to $180,000.
